SMU Individual Notes

QB-Justin Willis had two TD passes and now has 12 on the season, which is the seventh most in a season at SMU, he also had a TD rushing TD, which was his second of the season; his 23 completions, 40 attempts, and 261 yards are all personal highs

KOR-Jessie Henderson's 100 yd kickoff return for a TD ties five other players for the longest in SMU history; it is his second career return for a TD (88 yd return against Tulane in 2005); he now has 307 yards on eight returns this season for a 38.4 average

WR - Emmanuel Sanders TD catch was his third of the season and his third consecutive game with a TD catch; the SMU record for consecutive games with a TD reception is four by Emmanuel Tolbert in 1977 and Jerry LeVias in 1966

K - Thomas Morstead was 2-3 on FGs (made 34, made 23, missed 39) and is now 6-8 on the season; he was 3-3 on PATs and is 14-15 for the season

WR - Bobby Chase had six catches give him 87 for his career and moves him into eighth for career receptions at SMU (82 by Anthony Smith, 1977-80); seventh is Kevin Thornal with 96 catches from 1993-96; his 54 yards receiving give him 1393 for his career moving him into 12th (James Whitmore 1381 from 1992-95), 11th is held by current ISP Mustangs' radio network sideline reporter John Hampton with 1485 from 1999-2002

DE - Cory Muse had two sacks and now has three on the season (5.5 for career)

DE - Justin Rogers had two sacks to get to five on the season (all in the last two games); he now has 15 for his career

LB - Tony Hawkins' sack was the first of his career

SMU Team Notes

The Mustangs have scored 133 points combined in the last three games, which is the second most in a three-game span in school history; the Mustangs had 141 in games against UT-Arlington (48-0), North Texas (34-7), and Grambling State (59-27) in 1981

SMU is 3-2 on the season, which is the best record for SMU after five games since a 3-2 start to the 1992 season

SMU has won four consecutive conference games for the first time since winning five straight in 1997

SMU won its conference opener for the first time since 2004 (San Jose State 36-13)

The Mustangs held Tulane to -33 rushing yards which is an SMU record (was -31 by Kansas in 1955); it is the first time the Mustangs have held an opponent to negative rushing yards since Arkansas in 1997 (-22);

This is the first time the Mustangs have opened conference play with a road victory since a 21-15 triumph at TCU in 1993
