ATHENS, Georgia (SMU) - The SMU divers wrapped up day one of the Georgia Diving Invitational today on the one-meter as Kristin Schild placed sixth overall.
Schild posted a mark of 226.25 in the prelims for tenth spot and advanced to the finals where she combined for a score of 250.90 and sixth place overall. Mara Morhouse placed 27th in the prelims with a score of 137.50. Preston Holcombe competed for the men's team as he gathered a score of 237.15, taking 14th place on the three-meter board.
The three day event which began today concludes on Friday and is set-up in a format similar to the Zone and NCAA Championships. The three-meter preliminaries will start at 11 a.m. on Thursday and following at approximately at 12:45 p.m., the top 12 divers each day will compete in the finals. In addition, there will be a diving shootout each night at 6 p.m. for the top six divers from the finals. Platform diving will be the highlight on Friday beginning at 11 a.m
