PLATFORM RESULTS

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (SMU) – SMU diver Grant Cates took home the win on platform at the Tennessee Diving Invite on Friday at the Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center, capturing the sweep for the Mustangs.

The freshman earned his first event win of the meet, scoring a 354.90 on platform. Cates also found success in the 1-meter finals, finishing seventh overall with a score of 337.60. On the first day of the Tennessee Diving Invite, Cates competed on 3-meter, throwing down a mark of 352.90 and placing eighth overall.

The Indiana native has already secured his spot at the 2026 NCAA Zone Diving Championships after nabbing cuts on 1-meter, 3-meter and platform earlier in the season.

The three event victories for [20/-] SMU were over five ranked opponents: [13/19] Alabama, [5/5] Florida, [14/12] LSU, [6/6] NC State and [10/9] Tennessee.

Picking up the other two wins for the Mustangs was All-American Luke Sitz. The sophomore posted a mark of 396.25 in the 1-meter finals and won on 3-meter after scoring a 434.50.

SMU Diver RJ Snyder saw action in the finals on 3-meter, finishing 10th overall with a score of 308.00. On platform, the freshman placed 11th after recording a 278.15 mark.
