Sitz Nabs Two Podium Finishes At American Cup

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (SMU) – SMU Diving All-American and NCAA Champion Luke Sitz claimed two medals at USA Diving's 2026 American Cup in Fort Lauderdale, Florida this past weekend.

On April 16, the sophomore finished eighth overall in the preliminary round on 3-meter. Due to American divers Jack Ryan and Maxwell Flory placing ahead of Sitz, the Texas native had to finish in the top four in the 3-meter repechage in order to advance. Ranking the highest in the repechage, Sitz punched his ticket to the 3-meter finals on April 18.

In the finals, Sitz threw down a score of 433.15 to earn a silver medal for the United States. His score was less than one point behind the diver in first, Jordan Houlden from Great Britain. Averaging 72.19 points per dive, Sitz finished strong with his final two dives: a Forward 4 1/2 Somersault Tuck (109C) and a Reverse 1 1/2 Somersault 3 1/2 Twist Free (5337D), earning scores of 83.60 and 85.75, respectively.

Sitz competed on 3-meter synchro with Indiana's Joshua Sollenberger on April 19. The pair recorded a score of 383.55 to claim a bronze medal. The diving duo won a silver medal in the same event at the 2025 USA Diving Winter Nationals.
