Basketball Teams To Be Honored At Football Game Saturday

Dallas (SMU) - The 2007-08 men's and women's basketball teams will be recognized on the field at Gerald J. Ford Stadium during the first half of Saturday's football game against Tulane (kickoff is at 7 p.m.) as they get ready for the upcoming season.
The men's basketball squad will have a team-record 18 home games at Moody Coliseum this season, while the women's schedule includes 15 appearances at Moody.
The men's season begins with the inaugural SMU Tip-Off Classic, Nov. 10 and 11, as the Mustangs match up against Southern and Alabama State. The inaugural SMU Holiday Classic provides the other bookend of the home non-league slate, as the Ponies host in-state opponents Stephen F. Austin and Texas State Dec. 29 and 30. The State Farm DFW Duel comes to Moody Coliseum Dec. 5 when rival TCU travels to Dallas. The rest of the non-conference calendar includes home contests with Nov. 17 against Centenary, Nov. 27 against Paul Quinn, Dec. 9 against Houston Baptist, Dec. 18 against South Carolina-Upstate and Dec. 20 against Prairie View A&M. The Conference USA slate will feature home meetings with defending champion and Elite Eight participant Memphis as well as Houston, Marshall, Rice, Tulsa, UAB, UCF and UTEP.
The women's regular season opens with a home game at 7 p.m., Friday, Nov. 9 against Big 12 opponent Texas A&M, which finished last year ranked No. 13 in the Associated Press poll. The early portion of the season also includes matchups with Metroplex rivals TCU and UT-Arlington. The Mustangs will take on the Horned Frogs at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 20, and the Mavericks of UT-Arlington come to Moody Coliseum for a 7 p.m. contest Saturday, Dec. 8.
