DALLAS (AP)--DALLAS (AP)-- Derrick Roberts scored 18 points to help lead SMU over their regional rival TCU 71-65 on Wednesday night in the State Farm DFW Duel. It was the third consecutive win for SMU in the series and fourth victory in the last five meetings.
TCU led by as many as eight points in the first half and went into halftime leading 34-29.
But the Mustangs (3-4) rebounded in the second half, improving from 38 percent to 49 percent field goal shooting and taking a 10-point lead with eight minutes remaining. The Mustangs also had just three turnovers after intermission following 11 in the first half.
Jon Killen added 14 points for SMU and Papa Dia had 12. Dia and Paulius Ritter led the Mustangs with eight rebounds each. Killen also led SMU with six assists and three steals against just one turnover. Alex Malone was the fourth Mustang in double-figures with 10 points to go with three assists.
Bamba Fall had nine points, five rebounds and two blocks. He upped his career blocks total to 129, tying Reggie Franklin for fourth in SMU history.
Brent Hackett led TCU (4-3) with 17 points, going 5-of-16 from the behind the arc. Henry Salter added 15 points and Kevin Langford had 14. Langford and John Ortiz led the Horned Frogs with six rebounds each. TCU shot 39 percent from the field, and made 10-of-11 from the free-throw line. SMU was 11-of-17 at the line, but hit 7-of-8 free throws in the second half.
SMU won the rebounding contest, 44-34.
The Mustangs put their three-game winning streak up against Houston Baptist at Moody Coliseum on Sunday at 2 p.m.
