AUSTIN (SMU) - SMU golfers Kate Ackerson and Lacey Jones both claimed top-eight finishes and the SMU team tied for fifth at the 34th-annual Betsy Rawls Invitational at the par-72, 6,323-yard University of Texas Golf Club.
Ackerson's final-round 71 was 1-under and moved her up into a fifth-place finish at 222 (78-73-71). Jones also had a solid final round at 74 and tied for eighth at 224 (73-77-74). Kristina Rothengatter saved her best for the final round, carding a 77 to finish in 42nd at 239 (82-80-77). Sarah Dodson (85-78-82 - T-61) and Ashley Deatherage (80-86-84 - 76) rounded out the SMU squad. SMU played without seniors Jennifer Ackerson and Laura Cross, who are currently sidelined.
As a team, SMU finished at 925, tying host Texas, and was just seven strokes out of second place.
