Orlando, Fla. (SMU) - Playing without three of their top five golfers, the SMU women's golf team had a tough opening day at the UCF Challenge on Monday. After posting rounds of 323 and 322, SMU is 13th at 69-over 645 in the 13-team event at the par 72, 6,214-yard layout at the Villas of Grand Cypress.

Kate Ackerson had the best day for SMU and is tied for 19th at 8-over following rounds of 77 and 75. Lacey Jones had an uncharacteristic day, carding rounds of 78 and 83 and is tied for 57th. Kristina Rothengatter (T-63, 82-82-164, +20), Ashley Deatherage (67, 86-82-168, +24) and Whitney Eckert (T-68, 86-83-169, +25) round out the SMU team.
