Orlando, Fla. (SMU) - The SMU women's golf team posted its best round of the tournament on Tuesday at the UCF Challenge, carding a 309 despite playing without three of its top five golfers. After opening with rounds of 323 and 322, SMU rebounded in round three and finished 13th at 954 at the par 72, 6,214-yard Villas of Grand Cypress.
Kate Ackerson (77-75-74-226-T20) claimed a top-20 individual finish in the loaded field, finishing at 10-over. Lacey Jones (78-83-75-236) had a nice final round with a 75 and finished tied for 46th at 20-over. Ashley Deatherage (86-82-78) also saved her best efforts for last and tied with teammate Kristina Rothengatter (82-82-82) for 65th. Whitney Eckert (86-83--89) rounded out the SMU team with a 72nd-place finish.
