ANN ARBOR, Mich. (SMU) - SMU golfers Kate Ackerson and Lacey Jones are tied for second place following two rounds at the 2007 Wolverine Invitational, at the par-71, 6,098-yard U-M Golf Course on Saturday, Sept. 29. As a team, SMU is in third place heading into Sunday's final round.
Ackerson and Jones shot identical 74-71s on Saturday and stand at 145. They are three shots off the lead held by Stefany Fleet of Eastern Michigan. SMU's team total of 606 is eight shots back of leader and host Michigan at 598.
Freshman Paige Martin shot 78-80 and is in 33rd at 158, while senior Laura Cross, who playing her first tournament for the Mustangs in over year after redshirting last season, made a solid return with a 80-79-159 and is tied for 34th. Newcomer Stephanie Hwang, who is competing as an individual, is tied with Cross at 159, while Tia Gannon rounds out the SMU team in 40th at 81-79-160.
In addition to SMU, the 10-team field includes Bradley, Cincinnati, Eastern Michigan, Indiana, Michigan, Notre Dame, Toledo, Tulsa and Wisconsin.
