ORLANDO, Fla. (SMU) - The SMU women's soccer team survived 23 shots, but the 24th got through as the UCF Knights squeaked out a 1-0 victory in Orlando Friday night.
Freshman goalkeeper Courtney Webb made four saves for the Mustangs, whose record dipped to 5-11-1 overall, and 3-6-0 in Conference USA games. UCF improved to 10-4-2 overall, and 5-2-2 in C-USA games.
The teams battled through half of the first half without a goal, before UCF's Lauren Halbert redirected a pass from Becca Thomas from three yards out off a corner kick to give the Knights the only goal of the game.
The Mustangs now return home for their final home game of the regular season at 1 p.m. Sunday afternoon when they welcome Southern Miss to Westcott Field.
