FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (SMU) - Junior forward Delisha Wills scored 20 points to lead three Mustangs scoring in double figures and came within a rebound of her second consecutive double-double, but it was not quite enough, as the SMU women's basketball team fell, 78-69, Friday night in Fayetteville, Ark.
In addition to Wills' 20 points, the Mustangs got 16 from junior Brittany Gilliam and a career-high 12 from sophomore Haley Day. Wills also was one of three Mustangs with nine rebounds; Gilliam and freshman post Christine Elliott also pulled down nine boards apiece.
The Mustangs outrebounded the Hogs, 47-37, and handed out 16 assists compared to 14 for Arkansas, but Razorback guard Shanita Arnold had the game of her career, hitting six three-pointers en route to a game-high 22 points to lead Arkansas.
The Mustangs now head north to Charleston, Ill., to take on Eastern Illinois at 12 p.m. Monday. The game will be broadcast live on KAAM (770 AM), after a pregame show that starts at 11:45.
