EVANSTON, Ill. (AP) -- Michael Thompson and Craig Moore each scored 14 points to lead Northwestern to a 66-55 win over SMU on Tuesday night. Bamba Fall led SMU with 14 points on seven-of-11 shooting. He also had game-highs of nine rebounds and five blocks with a career-best three steals. He became the second SMU player to reach 200 career blocks as he upped his total to 202. At SMU, he trails only Jon Koncak's 278 career blocks.
John Shurna added 13 points for Northwestern (8-2), which never trailed in the game. The Wildcats led 28-22 at the half, despite shooting 40 percent from the field. SMU forced 18 turnovers by Northwestern, which only averages 11.8 per game. The Mustangs scored 21 points off the miscues.
SMU (3-6) also struggled with turnovers, allowing Northwestern to score 22 points off the errors.
The Mustangs also got 12 points from Robert Nyakundi, which hit all four of his three-point shots. Alex Malone added nine points in just 10 minutes, all in the second half.
The Wildcats pulled away early in the second half and put the game out of reach. Moore's 3-pointer at the 17:15 mark pushed Northwestern's lead to 38-27.
The Mustangs play the next four games at home. The stretch starts when UT-San Antonio visits Moody Coliseum on Monday at 7 p.m. That is followed by a New Year's Eve matinee when Texas A&M-Corpus Christi comes to Dallas for a 2 p.m. tip on Dec. 31.
