Parrish, Fla. (SMU) - The SMU women's golf team opened their spring season on Monday at the Central District Invitational at the River Wilderness Golf Club., and after two rounds of play, SMU is tied for 10th at the 15-team event.
SMU carded a 310 in round one and was in ninth place following the first 18 holes. The Mustangs suffered a setback in round two, however, as standout Kate Ackerson, who shot 77 in round one, had to withdraw due to injury. SMU finished at 312 for the second 18 and is now tied with Nebraska at 622.
Freshman Tia Gannon leads SMU at 77-75-152 and is tied for 20th. Sarah Dodson is 28th at 79-76-155, while former All-Conference performers Lacey Jones (77-81-158-T43rd) and Laura Cross (84-80-164-T63rd) had uncharacteristically tough days.
