ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) - Jermaine Taylor scored 16 of his 22 points in the first half as UCF rolled to a 70-45 victory over SMU on Wednesday night.
UCF (14-6, 4-2 Conference USA) posted its fourth consecutive victory, and is 13-0 when scoring 70 or more points this season. The Knights held the Mustangs to 29.8 percent shooting (26 for 61) and outrebounded SMU 46-32.
A.J. Tyler added 10 points and 11 rebounds for UCF and A.J. Rompza finished with 11 assists.
SMU (6-12, 1-5) remained winless on the road this season (0-7). Derek Williams led the Mustangs with 17 points.
UCF raced to a 17-2 lead in the first 7 minutes. The Mustangs cut the lead to seven on a basket by Bamba Fall with 5:47 remaining in the first half, but the Knights used a 14-4 run to lead 40-23 at the break.
Note for SMU - Bamba Fall had two blocks to move into sixth in Conference USA history with 227 career blocked shots. He is currently second at SMU to Jon Koncak's career total of 278.
