Vestavia Hills, Ala. (SMU) - After rain washed out the first 36 holes on Monday, the SMU men's golf team wrapped up the 24th-annual Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate at the Old Overton Club on Tuesday, finishing eighth in the 18-hole event at 286. Leading the way for the Mustangs was Ben Tewes, who tied for fourth with a 2-under 68.
Just missing a top-10 finish was Matt Schovee, whose 1-under 69 tied for 11th. Kelly Kraft was even for the day and tied for 16th.
Host Alabama won the event at 7-under 273, and the Tide's Hunter Hamrick took medalist honors at 5-under 65.
