DALLAS (SMU) - A week after finishing second at the Mean Green Relays, Thomas Fadnes and Edward Downes will lead the SMU men's swimming and diving team back to Denton, Texas to take on the University of New Orleans in a dual meet.
Downes led his relay teams to second place finishes in the 400-yard medley relay, the 300-yard backstroke relay and the 400-yard individual medley, while Fadnes finished in the top-three in the three events he competed in.
The senior led his 200-yard freestyle team to one of SMU's two first place finishes at the event, and also scored a second place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay and a third place finish in the 500-yard freestyle relay. Senior captain Nate Clark swam the first leg of SMU's only other first place finish in the 800-yard freestyle relay.
The meet will be the first competition of the season for the Privateers swim team in just their second season as a program. New Orleans went 4-6 in dual meets in their inaugural season and finished fifth at the Sun Belt Conference Championships.
The event will be held in the PEB Natatorium, and will be the first full day of competition for the Mustangs.
