DALLAS (SMU)-SMU women's tennis (10-1) used their home court advantage to the fullest potential on Friday, February 13 at the Turpin Tennis Stadium by claiming a win (5-0) over Stephen F. Austin (1-3), before blanking C-USA foe Memphis (7-0).

The Mustangs' doubles tandems remained dominant against the Lumberjacks, recording a sweep in competition with a Mustang pair of senior Natalia Bubien and junior Pavi Francis leading the way with their instinctive and commanding play. The duo posted a win (8-3) over Lumberjacks Roxana Enica and Alina Shazkho to improve their season record to 8-1.

Senior Kristen Reid, playing in the number three spot for singles competition, recorded a win (6-0, 6-1) over Sanjana Kapur, while senior Monica Neveklovska secured a victory (6-2, 6-3) against SFA's Gabriela Gadeva. Junior Casey Kennedy and senior Kseniia Tokarieva were also successful.

The Mustangs then geared up for C-USA opponent, Memphis, shutting the Tigers out with their strong performances in doubles and singles. Tandem Reid and Neveklovska improved their season record to 9-1 with a win (8-5) over Tiger pair Marjorie Ondeck and Robyn Jones, while Mustangs Tokarieva and junior Nicole Briceno handily defeated (8-1) Amanda Brown and Lindsey Wiseman.

In singles, Bubien trounced Ondeck in a straight set win (6-1, 6-1), as Francis fought back against Murdock in the third set to prevail with a match victory (7-6, 4-6, 10-6). Tokarieva remained undefeated (6-0) for the season with a win (6-4, 6-3) over Brown. Mustangs Neveklovska, Reid, and Briceno posted wins, as well, for the shut out.

"Overall I was pleased with our effort and performance today. I thought we had good energy and focus from the outset. It was a great start to the weekend and I hope we can bring the same intensity and focus to our matches the rest of the weekend," said head coach Lauren Longbotham-Meisner.

The Mustangs continue their home stand against Missouri on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. before taking on UT-Arlington at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Turpin Tennis Stadium.
