DALLAS (SMU) – SMU Women's Tennis defeated Air Force (6-1) and Abilene Christian (6-1) to open the 2026 dual match season, securing the program's first two wins under head coach Kelcy McKenna.   

SMU took the doubles point in the first match as Addison Comiskey and Eliana Kook earned their first win as a tandem with a 6-0 decision on court three against Air Force. Ellie Mireles and Caroline McGinley clinched the first doubles point of the season with a 6-1 win on court one. In singles against the Falcons, Comiskey, Mireles, and Natalie Stasny each notched their first wins as Mustangs. The two returns, McGinley and Sophie Llewellyn, also collected wins in singles against Air Force  

In the second match of the day against Abilene Christian, the Mustangs took care of business once again in doubles action, winning on courts one and three to clinch. Llewelyn and Stasny got their first victory of the spring season together, while Mireles and McGinley improved to 2-0 on the day as a duo.   

Comiskey and Llewellyn earned the first two singles wins for SMU against the Wildcats, as Comiskey won 6-3, 6-0, while Llewellyn cruised to a decisive 6-1, 6-1 victory. Up 3-1, the Mustangs saw wins from Eliana Kook, Stasny, and McGinley, with freshman Kook winning her first match in the red and blue with set scores of 6-4, 6-4.   

NEXT UP: 
The Mustangs will take on Wichita State on Monday, Jan. 19, for their first road test.
