RUSTON, La. (SMU) - Junior guard Brittany Gilliam scored 16 points to become the 16th player in SMU history to score 1,000 in her career, but it was not enough as the SMU women's basketball team fell, 77-54, to Louisiana Tech in the WNIT at the Thomas Assembly Center in Ruston, La.

Gilliam hit 7-of-18 shots from the floor en route to her 27th double-digit scoring performance of the season.

After the Mustangs jumped out to an early lead, LaTech tightened up its defense - limiting the Ponies to 32.4 percent shooting in the first half - and took a 41-30 lead into the halftime intermission.

Gilliam was one of two Mustangs to crack double digits in the scoring column, as sophomore Haley Day added 10 points.

The Mustangs' season ends with a record of 20-12, marking the second consecutive season - and seventh in school history - in which the Ponies have won 20 or more games.
