KINGSTON, R.I. (SMU) - On the heels of its 10-stroke win last week at the Gopher Invite, the SMU men's golf team posted a come-from-behind win at the 16th-annual Adams Cup on Tuesday, Sept. 22. Trailing New Mexico by two shots heading into the final 18 at the Newport National Golf Club, the SMU men shot a combined 291 in the final round, tying for the day's low round, to pass the Lobos and post a six-stroke victory.

The Mustangs had three golfers place in the top 10 individually, led by C-USA Golfer of the Week Kelly Kraft, who finished third at 69-76-70-215. Matt Schovee tied for fourth at 74-68-75-217 and Ben Tewes tied for eighth at 73-75-71-219.

The 2009 Adams Cup field included 18 teams from 11 different conferences and is one of the finest golf tournaments on the East Coast, annually attracting some of the top NCAA golf programs in the country.
