No. 26 Men's Swimming Hosts Classic At SMU

DALLAS (SMU) - The SMU men's swim team will be hosting the Classic at SMU, Friday and Saturday night beginning at 7:30 p.m. at the Perkins Natatorium. Four top-25 teams will be competing, including No. 6 Florida, No. 7 Michigan, No. 13 Southern Cal, No. 19 Purdue and the Mecklenburg Elite Team.
Individually the meet will feature a world record holder, Cullen Jones for the Mecklenburg Elite Team. Jones won a gold medal and set a world record in the 400-meter freestyle relay at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Another world record holder in the field is Nick Thoman who holds the 100 meter backstroke SCM record. Last year's NCAA Swimmer of the Year Tyler Clary will be competing for Michigan
The Mustangs will have strength on their side as well as Thomas Fadnes, Pontus Renholm, Ed Downes and Matt Culbertson will be competing. Culbertson is coming off a strong performance at the Bulldog Shootout two weeks ago in which he won the 1M event with a score of 342.20.
