DALLAS (AP) -Derek Williams scored 27 points and Robert Nyakundi added 20 to lead SMU to an 82-68 victory against Houston Baptist on Saturday.

The Mustangs (8-10) trailed just once, 2-0. They raced to an 18-6 cushion and led by as many as 19 points in the second half.

Wendell Preadom led Houston Baptist (3-14) with 14 points, and Michael Moss added 13.

Williams scored at least 20 points for the seventh time in his career, the sixth this season and third game in a row. He had five assists.

SMU blocked a season-high six shots.

NEXT GAME: SMU will take on UCF on Wednesday, January 27 at 7 p.m., here at Moody Coliseum, the second game of a three-game homestand. The homestand concludes next Saturday, January 30 when the Mustangs take on defending C-USA Champion Memphis at 2 p.m.

-Scored a career-high 20 points, his second double-digit scoring game in a row, eclipsing his previous career high of 19, set on 12/7/2009 against Texas State. This is his third double-digit scoring game this season, and eleventh of his career.
-Made a career-high five 3FG, going a perfect 5-for-5 from the field
- He has scored 8+ points in each game he has played longer than 15 minutes this season.

Derek Williams
