DALLAS (SMU) --- The SMU volleyball team fell 3-2 to Tulsa on Wednesday afternoon at Moody Coliseum. The Mustangs, previously unbeaten in Conference USA play, are now 12-4 overall on the season and 4-1 in league play.
Three Mustangs tallied double-digit kills in the contest. Dana Powell led SMU with 19 and tied a season-high with 21 digs. Kathryn Wilkerson finished with 17 kills and Jessica Oliver with 13. As a team, the Mustangs swung at a .276 hitting percentage.
Setter Kelli Becerra notched a season-high 55 assists and added 10 digs.
The Mustangs, who lead the league in blocks per set with 2.50, charted seven team blocks in the match. Middle blocker Courtney Manning led SMU with four.
Tulsa was carried by sophomore Tyler Henderson, who tied the Conference USA all-time single match record with 45 kills.
In a back-and-forth match between the two Conference USA leaders, three of the five sets were decided by two points.
The Mustangs return to the court this weekend with two back-to-back matches against Memphis on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday's match is the annual "Dig Pink" event to raise funds for breast cancer.
