DALLAS (AP) -Robert Nyakundi had a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds to lead SMU past Portland State 69-53 on Friday in the second game of the SMU Invitational.
Papa Dia led all scorers with 20 points for the Mustangs (1-2), and Jeremiah Samarrippas had 10.
Charles Odum came off the bench to pace the Vikings (1-1) with 17 points. Portland State got just 22 points from its starters.
Dia's dunk 1:40 into the game put SMU ahead to stay at 4-3. The lead peaked at 62-39 when Dia scored with 8:02 left in the second half.
The Mustangs outshot the Vikings 47.1 percent (24 of 51) to 40.9 percent (18 of 44) and outrebounded them 30-26. They also had a big edge from 3-point range, hitting 10 of 24 (41.7 percent) to Portland State's 5 of 18 (27.8 percent).
Portland State committed 13 turnovers.
