Rancho Santa Fe, Calif. (SMU) - The SMU men's golf team took second place at the Callaway Invitational at the par-72, 6,947-yard Farms Golf Club on Tuesday, Feb. 9, carding a final round 290 as a team to take runner-up at 865 in the 12-team tournament. Only a final-round, tournament-low round of 281 by host San Diego (862) could keep SMU from the title.

Matt Schovee was SMU's top finisher, taking fifth at 71-67-77-215. Kelly Kraft also placed in the top 10, tying for ninth at 74-72-71-217. James Kwon (71-73-76-220-T15th), Max Buckley (82-70-72-224-T22nd) and Ben Tewes (77-79-71-227-T34th) rounded out the SMU team. SMU's Marc Sambol (78-75-75-228) played unattached and finished 36th.
