Tucson, Ariz. (SMU) - The SMU men's golf team stands in a fifth-place tie after round one of the National Invitational Tournament at Omni Tucson National. SMU shot a team 587 for the first 36 holes and is tied with 21st-ranked Cal in fifth. TCU leads the tournament at 569.
Four Mustangs rank in the top 30, led by Matt Schovee, who shot 74-72 and is tied for 14th. Teammates Kelly Kraft (69-78) and James Kwon (76-71) are tied for 22nd and Draegen Majors is tied in 26th after shooting 74-74. Johan de Beer of TCU and Joakim Mikkelsen of Baylor share the individual lead at 139.
