Tucson, Ariz. (SMU) - The SMU men's golf team carded a tournament-low round of 278 and jumped up to third place in the final round of the National Invitational Tournament at Omni Tucson National. With a final score of 865, SMU topped No. 23 Cal (870) and No. 13 Texas Tech (883) and finished just three shots behind No. 7 Texas (862). TCU won the tournament at 852.
Three Mustangs broke 70 on Thursday, with Kelly Kraft shooting a 68 and Matt Schovee and James Kwon carding 69s. Draegen Majors shot even-par 72 to round out the SMU squad. Kraft and Schovee ended up tied for fifth at 215, while Kwon tied for 12th at 216. Majors' 220 was good for 24th. Texas' Dylan Frittelli took medalist honors at 210.
