HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The SMU women's golf team sits in sixth place at 306 after round one of the 2010 Conference USA Women's Golf Championship at the 6,146-yard, par-72 Canebrake Country Club. Individually, SMU is led by Liz Wells, whose 74 has her tied for 12th.
Tulane, who entered the event ranked 27th, carded a 290 and sits in first place. Individually, three players are perched atop the leaderboard, with Tulsa's Sarah Elliot, UTEP's Shang Haung and Tulane's Ashley McKenney all posting 1-under-par 70s. The Memphis Tigers are in second place with a team total of 295 and Tulsa (297) and UTEP (300) round out the top-five teams in the tournament.
Second round action begins at 8 a.m. on Monday. The winner of the C-USA Championship receives an automatic berth to the NCAA Regionals.
