AUSTIN (SMU) - SMU senior Ben Tewes is tied for first after two rounds of play at the Morris Williams Intercollegiate at the par 71, 7,412-yard University of Texas Golf Club. At even-par 142, Tewes is tied with John Catlin of New Mexico.
As a team, SMU is in 12th place at 607. Texas ended the opening day of the 15-team event in first place by one stroke over New Mexico. Texas shot an 8-over 292 in round one and followed in the afternoon with a 3-over 287 to finish the day with an 11-over 579. New Mexico, with rounds of 281 and 299, sits one shot back with a 12-over 580 on the day.
