LAKE POWELL, Fla. (SMU) – The Mustangs hold a share of sixth place after day two of the ACC Men's Golf Championship. The team needs a spot in the top eight at the end of the day Saturday to advance to match play for the second consecutive year.
 
SMU came into the middle round of stroke play at the ACCs alone in fifth place after an even par round one. They shot one over in round two to move to one-over for the tournament. The Mustangs sit in a four-way tie for sixth with Georgia Tech, Clemson and Florida State. SMU stands in front of four ranked teams. Stanford leads the field at 23-under.
 
Will Sides sits alone in second place, two shots off the lead of Edan Cui of Stanford. Sides came into the day with a two-shot lead but slipped a few spots it in the early going. He birdied three of his final five holes to vault back into second. With a 71, he has shot par or better in 11 straight rounds. Sides will be in search of his record-tying fourth individual title of the season on Saturday. He moved his season scoring average to 69.48, still a half stroke better than the next best season in Mustang history.
 
Ben Steinmann sits at even par after a four-under first round followed by a four-over second. He holds a share of 20^th place.
 
Zachary Kingsland had a strong day two shooting two-under 70. He moved up 23 spots into a tie for 4st. Kingsland eagled the 370-yard par-four eighth hole.
 
Christian Clark shot even par 72, to moved up eight spots into a tie for 61^st. Gabe Post had a very solid front nine, shooting 32. He finished the day at four-over for the second straight round. He holds 66^th place.
 
The Mustangs look for a spot in the top eight tomorrow during Saturday's round three beginning at 8:55 am CT. They will be paired alongside golfers from Florida State and Clemson.
