Bremerton, Wash. (SMU) - Despite bettering its day one score by 13 shots, the SMU men's golf team slipped one spot to 11th place on day two of the NCAA Regional at Gold Mountain Golf Club. The Mustangs shot 294 over the second 18 and are now at 601 heading into Saturday's final round.
The low five teams and the low individual not on those teams from each Regional will advance to the NCAA Championship. With one round remaining, SMU is 14 shots out of fifth place.
Ben Tewes led SMU on Friday, shooting 71. He is tied for 25th at 148. Kelly Kraft's 72 has him tied for 32nd at 149, while Draegen Majors is one shot behind Kraft, tied for 40th at 150 (74-76). Matt Schovee's 154 (79-75) has him tied for 52nd, while James Kwon's second-round 80 saw him fall into a tie for 69th.
