BLYTHEWOOD, S.C. (SMU) --- The SMU equestrian team lost to South Carolina, 8-4, in the Hunt Seat competition held at One Wood Farm on Friday afternoon.
On the flat, SMU fell to the Gamecocks, 4-2. Freshman Rachel Cline and sophomore Danielle Gersh earned wins for the Mustangs.
In equitation over fences, Jordyn Pettersen and Lucy Blundon won their competitions, but the Mustangs lost in the event, 3-2. Pettersen, a junior from Fallbrook, Calif., won her matchup for the second consecutive week after garnering MVP honors at TCU last week.
The Mustangs continue their road trip with a competition against Kansas State at the University of Georgia's course on Saturday. On Sunday, the Red-and-Blue stay in Athens, Ga. and face the defending national champion Georgia Bulldogs.
