DALLAS (SMU) - The SMU Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and The Hamburger Man are teaming up to sponsor "Burgers and Basketball" in an effort to "Pack the House" Thursday night when the SMU women's basketball team takes on TCU in Moody Coliseum at 7 p.m.
Fans are invited to attend the tailgate event in front of Moody Coliseum at 6 p.m., and for five dollars can purchase food and beverages from The Hamburger Man. The 2-0 Mustangs are encouraging fans to pack the house Thursday night as they face rival TCU, which beat SMU 87-73 in double-overtime last season.
"I'm excited about the opportunity to have this event for our fans, especially for this rivalry game," head coach Rhonda Rompola said. "We want to pack Moody, and we need the support of our students and fans."
SMU has played solid defense in its first two games, holding both Alcorn State and Arkansas-Little Rock to 60 points or less. Samantha Mahnesmith led the Mustangs with 13 points in the opener, while Alisha Filmore had the hot hand in Little Rock, scoring a team-high 15 points.
