SMU-Baylor Score Sheet

WACO, Texas (SMU) --- The SMU equestrian team split its matchups against Baylor and Sacred Heart today at the Willis Family Equestrian Center. The Mustangs defeated the Pioneers, 7-1, but lost to host Bears, 5-2.

"It was overall a great day, and we thank Baylor for hosting a terrific event," said SMU head coach Haley Schoolfield. "The girls made up a lot of ground from last week, and we are very pleased with their progress."

Julianna Fischer earned MVP in both of today's meets. Against Baylor, the freshman scored an 83 over fences. The Wellington, Fla., native followed with a 72 on the flat.

In the match against Sacred Heart, SMU swept on the flat with Fischer, Danielle Gersh, Claire Wenholz and Renick Townsend all gathering victories. Katie Jones, Jordyn Petterson and Emily Gardener each won their competitions over fences. The Mustangs edged the Pioneers 543-489 overall.

Despite outscoring the Bears, 564 to 561, SMU lost the competition, 5-2. Fischer (83) and Petterson (74) each earned wins over the fences.

SMU again faces Baylor in its next competition at Buck Branch during the Mar. 26-27 weekend.
