Davis Named C-USA Player Of The Week

Nov. 26, 2012

IRVING (C-USA/SMU) - SMU senior linebacker Ja'Gared Davis has been named the Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced today.

Playing in his school-record-tying 52nd career game, Davis did a little bit of everything in leading SMU to a 35-27 victory over Tulsa. The victory made SMU bowl-eligible for a school-record fourth consecutive season. The linebacker blocked a punt to set up the game's first score and then forced and recovered a fumble to set up the second touchdown. Davis followed that by intercepting a pass to set up SMU's third TD drive. He finished the game with seven tackles and two-and-a-half tackles for loss.

Davis is the fourth Mustang to earn a weekly honor from the league in 2012, as Kenneth Acker, Randall Joyner and Kevin Pope have each been chosen previously. C-USA Football Players of the Week are voted on by a panel of the league's media.
