        DALLAS (SMU) - After a close second set, the Mustangs took the third        set against East Carolina 25-13 to complete the sweep of the Pirates (25-17, 25-22, 25-13)        in Moody Coliseum. Maddie        Lozano led the charge with 12 kills, three aces and two blocks for the Mustangs, and Caroline        Young scored 10 kills, hitting a team-high .348.
        With the third set tied 5-5, SMU (4-10, 1-1 Conference USA) scored five of the next six        points to take a four-point lead. ECU (1-12, 0-2 C-USA) never got within three points the        rest of the way, as the Mustangs stretched the lead to seven points midway through the set,        17-10. Lozano scored her 12th kill of the match for SMU's 21st point, ending the scoring        for the Pirates. After ECU failed to get the ball over the net on Lozano's ensuing serve,        the junior scored two-straight aces to give SMU match point. Courtney        Manning and Olivia        Bailey combined for a block to end the match.
        SMU dominated the second half of the first set, winning 25-17 to take the early        advantage in the match. It was tied 10-10 when the Mustangs went on a 4-0 run, to build a        lead they would never relinquish. Leading 19-15, SMU scored the next three points to        stretch the lead to seven, and the Pirates could only manage two more points before Lozano        blasted a kill for the win.
        The Pirates nearly spoiled the sweep in the second set, but the Mustangs came from        behind for a 25-22 victory before going into the locker room. SMU trailed 19-15 before head        coach Lisa        Seifert called her second timeout. After the discussion, the Mustangs scored five of        the next six points to even the score 20-20. Young scored kills on four of the final nine        serves to spark SMU to the win.
        Bailey had assists on 36 of SMU's 39 kills, and Manning finished with nine kills and two        blocks, bringing her career total to 512, just 18 away from Kendra        Kahanek's SMU record of 530. Bailey and Susan        Lewis each had a team-high six digs.
