AMELIA ISLAND, Fla. (SMU) - Sophomores Vaszilisza Bulgakova and Hristina Dishkova defeated Katia Jordan and Amanda Rodgers in the first round of the doubles match play draw (6-2, 6-2) at the Amelia Island 10K Championships. In the round of 16 singles play, Bulgakova fell to University of Florida senior Alexandra Cercone in straight sets (6-4, 6-1).

Bulgakova and Dishkova's doubles match was postponed for two days and even included rain delays throughout Wednesday's match, but they were able to get the win.

"Multiple rain delays could not stop the Mustangs today," assistant coach Jeff Hammond said. "They played well together with good energy."

Bulgakova and Dishkova will take on Aleah Marrow and Valeria Salazar in Thursday's round of 16 doubles match.

This weekend, SMU splits its team as head coach Kati Gyulai travels with the rest of team to the Colorado Invitational (Sept. 27-29) while Hammond remains at the Amelia Island 10K Championships, which close Sept. 29.
