Nicol Named Conference Swimmer Of The Week

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (American/SMU) - Senior Rachel Nicol was awarded the first American Athletic Conference Women's Swimmer of the Week award, league officials announced on Tuesday. Nicol helped lead the Mustangs to a third-place finish at the SMU Classic.
Nicol, who holds the nation's top time in the 100-yard breaststroke, won the event in 1:00.18 to break the meet record. She also won the 200-yard event with a time of 2:10.11, which is good for second in the nation after the weekend's events.
The Lethbridge, Alberta, native also placed third in the 200-yard individual medley clocking in at 2:03.72.
Nicol and the Mustangs are back in action on Oct. 31 when they host Rice at the Mansfield Natatorium at 7 p.m. CT. Live results can be found at SMUMustangs.com.
