Mustangs Start 2014-15 As No. 11 In CSCAA Poll

DALLAS (CSCAA/SMU) - Following a standout performance at the SMU Classic last weekend, the SMU women's swimming and diving team has been ranked 11th in the first edition of the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Poll, the organization announced.
The Mustangs, who finished 20th at the 2014 NCAA Championship and second at the inaugural American Athletic Conference Championship a season ago, kicked off the season with a third-place finish at the Classic posting 15 times that ranked in the top-10 in the country.
Senior Rachel Nicol, who was named the conference's swimmer of the week, led the Mustangs clocking times in the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke events that are good for first and second in the country, respectively.
Senior Isabella Arcila, sophomores Ursa Bezan , Tara-Lynn Nicholas and Marne Erasmus, along with the 200- and 800-yard freestyle relays and 200- and 400-yard medley relays were also in the top five.
SMU's opponents from the Classic USC (No. 1) and Louisville (No. 9) are in the top 10, while LSU (No. 15) and NC State (No. 19) are also in the top 25.
The Mustangs are back in action on Oct. 31 when they face Rice at the Mansfield Natatorium at 7 p.m. CT. Live stats will be available at SMUMustangs.com.
