Mustangs Wrap Up Day Two Of Art Adamson Invite

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (SMU) – The SMU men’s swimming and diving team concluded day two of the Art Adamson Invitational, hosted by Texas A&M, on Friday evening. Senior Devin Burnett and junior Sam Straughan, the conference’s diver and swimmer of the week, respectively, each recorded a top-10 finish.
Burnett finished third in the three-meter dive and recorded another top-three performance, as he posted a score of 373.55 to place third in the three-meter.
In swimming, Straughan recorded a top-10 finish in the 100-yard backstroke, as he placed ninth and posted a ‘B’ standard time (48.28). Freshman Bartosz Krzyzaniak also clocked a top-15 finish in the 100 back, as he touched the wall 13th (49.94).
In the 100-yard butterfly, SMU also registered two top-15 finishes. Sophomore Ziga Cerkovnik touched the wall 12th with a time of 49.28, while Straughan finished 14th (49.50).
The Mustangs also had a strong performance in the 100-yard breaststroke, as two freshman finished in the top 20. Matt Ackman placed 11th (55.48) and Stefan Popov came in 17th (56.92).
Fellow freshman Max Bryant finished 24th in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:15.75.
In the 200-yard medley relay, SMU’s team of Ackman, Cerkovnik, Krzyzaniak and Straughan placed 10th, finishing with a time of 1:30.58.
The Mustangs’ squad of Ackman, Krzyzaniak, sophomore Tucker Wells and senior Tyler Rauth closed the night with a ninth-place finish in the 800-yard freestyle relay (6:45.32).
The Art Adamson Invitational continues tomorrow with the preliminary rounds beginning at 10 a.m. CT. Saturday’s events include the 1,650 freestyle, 200 backstroke, 100 freestyle, 200 breaststroke, 200 butterfly, 400 freestyle relay and platform diving. Follow all of the action here.
