UP NEXT: [-/RV] SMU plays its fifth consecutive home game with [RV/RV] Wyoming coming to Moody Coliseum on Dec. 5 at 6 p.m. CT. The game will be televised on ESPNews/WatchESPN. The Mustangs follow with UC Santa Barbara visiting Dec. 8 for a 7 p.m. CT game on CBS Sports Network.
LAST GAME (W, 72-59, vs. Texas Southern on Nov. 26, 2014): DALLAS (AP) - Nic Moore scored 17 points on 7-of-9 shooting, with seven steals and six assists, to lead SMU over Texas Southern 72-59 on Nov. 26. SMU (3-3) shot 52 percent from the floor, including 7 of 14 from beyond the arc, where Moore was 3 of 4. Keith Frazier added 16 points and Yanick Moreira had 15 points and seven boards. Texas Southern (0-5) was led by Madarious Gibbs with 16 points and nine assists. Chris Thomas and Deverell Biggs both added 11 points for the Tigers, while Malcolm Riley had 10 points. SMU led by just one after 10 minutes but went on a 16-2 run, punctuated by Moore's 3-pointer, and led 32-25 at the break. A 10-2 run at the start of the second half, capped by Frazier's trey, pushed the lead into double figures and SMU cruised from there.

THE SERIES VS. WYOMING (3-4): This will be the eighth meeting between SMU and Wyoming. The Cowboys lead the series 4-3, however SMU won the most recent game 62-54 at Wyoming on Dec. 20, 2013. Prior to last year, the two schools last played in the 2005-06 season. SMU is 2-1 in Moody Coliseum against Wyoming. The Mustangs went 1-2 against Wyoming when the schools were members of the Western Athletic Conference.
LAST MEETING VS. WYOMING (W, 62-54, at Wyoming on Dec. 20, 2013): LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) - Markus Kennedy scored 15 points and grabbed seven rebounds as SMU continued its defensive dominance with a 62-54 win over Wyoming. Wyoming (7-4) was led by Larry Nance Jr.'s 16 points and 13 rebounds. Jerron Granberry added 12 points and Josh Adams 10 for the Cowboys. The game featured five ties and 10 lead changes before the Mustangs (10-2) took the lead for good at 54-52 on a 3-pointer by Nick Russell with 3:55 remaining. After Adams missed a 14-footer and Nance failed to hit a free throw, Keith Frazier clinched it with a 3 with 1:42 left. SMU limited Wyoming to 34.8 percent (16 of 46).
HALL OF FAME HEAD COACH Larry Brown: He was named head men's basketball coach at SMU on April 19, 2012. He is the only head coach to win both an NCAA title (Kansas 1988) and an NBA Championship (Detroit 2004). Brown was enshrined in the Basketball Hall of Fame as a coach on Sept. 27, 2002. He is in his 40th season as a head coach and 10th at the NCAA level. He has an overall record of 1698-1222 when combining his head coaching marks from the NBA, the ABA, the NCAA and USA Basketball. His collegiate record is 222-91 (45-30 at SMU), making the NCAA tournament in his first seven seasons including three Final Fours (1980, 1986, 1988) and the 1988 NCAA title. At SMU, he led the Mustangs to the 2014 NIT title game.

$1 BILLION SECOND CENTURY CAMPAIGN GOAL: Bolstered by the success to date of SMU's Second Century Campaign, the University's Board of Trustees has raised the goal to $1 billion. SMU already has surpassed its original goal ($750 million), raising $840 million for a campaign scheduled to end in 2015, the 100th anniversary of SMU's opening. SMU joins only 12 other private universities currently seeking goals of $1 billion or more. Among them are Columbia, Duke, Johns Hopkins, Georgetown, the University of Chicago and the University of Southern California. SMU is the first comprehensive university in North Texas to seek that amount.
#2: SMU was picked to finish second in The American by the league's coaches. Connecticut was picked to win the conference. SMU's Nic Moore and Markus Kennedy were unanimous preseason all-AAC selections.

20 WIN PLATEAU: Last season, SMU reached the 20-win mark for the 10th time in program history, and the first time since they went 20-15 in the 2010-11 campaign. SMU finished with 27 wins for the first time since the 1987-88 season, when the Mustangs went 24-6 in the regular season and 28-7 overall. 2013-14 also marked the earliest calendar date (Feb. 14) the Mustangs reached 20 wins in program history. The campaign is also SMU's first 20-win regular season since the Mustangs went 21-7 in the 1999-00 campaign.
#22/22: SMU was ranked No. 22 in the preseason in both the AP and USA Today Coaches Top 25. It was the Mustangs' first preseason ranking since being No. 10 in the AP poll prior to the 1984-85 season. In 2013-14 SMU was in the top 25 in four of the last five regular season polls, being ranked for the first time since 1984-85. SMU finished tied for third in the inaugural season of the American Athletic Conference, going 12-6 with two wins over NCAA Champion Connecticut. The Mustangs tied for the third-best single-season turnaround in the nation last year with a 12-win improvement (15-17 in 2012-13).
2014 NIT FINAL: In SMU's second season under Larry Brown, it went 27-10 en route to the NIT championship game. SMU earned a No. 1 seed in the NIT, winning home games over UC Irvine (68-54), LSU (80-67) and California (67-65 on Nic Moore 3-pointer w/ 6.5 seconds left) to reach the semifinals in Madison Square Garden. SMU defeated Clemson 65-59 in the semifinal before falling to Minnesota (65-63) in the title game.
ATTENDANCE INCREASE - #4 NATIONALLY IN 2013-14, #2 SINCE 2012: SMU had the fourth-largest increase in attendance in 2013-14 and ranks second nationally in increased attendance since 2012. In 2013-14, SMU averaged 5,653 fans per home game, an increase of 2,210 over the previous season. The Mustangs are up 3,640 per home game since 2012. SMU went 18-1 at home last season including a 12-1 mark in Moody Coliseum. The Mustangs set a new season attendance record at 107,412, which included nine sellouts in 13 games at Moody. SMU ranked No. 12 nationally for increased attendance 2012-13, going from 2,013 in 2011-12 to 3,443. SMU and Iowa are the only two programs to be in the top 20 in each of the past two seasons. SMU's attendance increase of 3,640 per game since 2012 trails only Nebraska (5,400).

COACHING FOR LITERACY (CoachingForLiteracy.org): Jonathan Wilfong (SMU sophomore) and Andrew Renshaw, two then-high school seniors from Memphis, Tennessee, founded Coaching for Literacy in 2012. The premise is simple: a participant offers a monetary donation and, in exchange, gets to be the "Assistant Coach" during a sporting event. Proceeds raised from the event go towards funding effective literacy programs focused on helping elementary and middle school students. Coaching for Literacy partners with collegiate and professional sports teams for a unique game-day experience. --- The mission of Coaching for Literacy is to increase awareness about the number of people in America who are functionally or totally illiterate and the social problems associated with illiteracy. By leveraging the unique power of collegiate and professional sports, Coaching for Literacy raises money to support effective local literacy programs and schools focused on educating elementary and middle school students.
CRASHING THE GLASS: SMU has outrebounded 5 of its 6 opponents this year, averaging 36.5 rebounds per game. The Mustangs have a 4.2 rebounding margin, as opponents are pulling in 32.3 per game. D MAGAZINE NAMES SMU MBB BEST SPORTS TEAM IN DALLAS: D Magazine named SMU men's basketball the Best Sports Team in Dallas at its annual Best of Big D banquet. The Mustangs went 27-10 and reached the NIT title game after being ranked in the top 25 in four of the last five weeks of the regular season. SMU went 18-1 at home last season, setting a record for home victories that included a 12-1 mark inside the renovated Moody Coliseum. SMU set a new season attendance record at 107,412, which included 9 sellouts in 13 games at Moody.
FG% 50+: SMU is shooting 48.9% from the field this year. The Mustangs have shot over 50% three times, (vs. Lamar, at Indiana, vs. Texas Southern). Last year, SMU shot 50% or better 13 times.
FG% DEFENSE: SMU is 33-7 under Larry Brown when holding opponents under 40% shooting. This year, SMU has held opponents to 40.7%. The Mustangs held Lamar (31.4%) and Indiana (36.2%) under the 40% threshold, while Gonzaga (45%), Eastern Washington (41.7%), Arkansas (45.3%) and Texas Southern (44.7%) shot over. INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE FOR 3 MUSTANGS: Senior Yanick Moreira played for the Angola national team in the 2014 FIBA World Cup in Spain. He averaged 17.8 points and 8.2 rebounds with two double-doubles while shooting 59.4 percent in five games. Moreira finished the tournament with 38 points (17/24 FG) and 15 rebounds in a win over Australia. Sophomores Ben Moore and Sterling Brown played on the Global Sports Academy U.S. team for the 2014 Men's Basketball Goodwill Tour. The tour was August 11-19 with games in Belgium, Germany, England and the Netherlands. The goal of the GSA is "education, good will and sportsmanship through sports."
MOODY MAGIC - SMU IS SOLD OUT FOR THE SEASON: On the heels of a season attendance record (107,412), Moody Coliseum is sold out for the 2014-15 season (18 games). SMU has sold over 5,000 season tickets, maxing out Moody capacity. While total capacity is close to 7,000, SMU reserves a limited number of tickets for students, faculty, staff, recruits, visiting teams and scouts.
THE MOB - SMU'S STUDENT SECTION: The Mob is the official student section of SMU Men's Basketball. In its first year during the 2013-2014 season, The Mob became one of the loudest student sections in the country, helping give the Mustangs one of the best home court advantages in college basketball!
THE MOODY/HOME COURT ADVANTAGE: SMU is 15-2 inside the renovated Moody Coliseum. The Mustangs have won 21 of their last 23 home games. In the past 23 home games, SMU is averaging 76.2 points per game with a scoring margin of +15.9. SMU is shooting 51.6% at home while holding opponents to 37.3%.
MOORE STEALS THE SHOW: SMU junior Nic Moore had a career-high 7 steals in SMU's 72-59 victory vs. Texas Southern on Nov. 26. It was the most steals in a game since Bryan Hopkins had 9 vs. San Jose State on Feb. 10, 2005. In addition, the 7 steals tied Moore for 3rd most in a game in program history. SMU had 13 steals in the game, the most since the Mustangs had 13 in a 68-54 victory vs. UC Irvine on March 19, 2014.
NATIONAL EXPOSURE: SMU has a regular-season record 25 games slated for national TV. Last season, the Mustangs had a program-best 26 games on national TV, with 20 of those during the regular season.
PAINT IS KEY: SMU has outscored 5 of its 6 opponents in the painted area this year. The Mustangs are averaging 33.3 points in the paint while opponents are at 20.7. Since the start of the 2013-14 season, the Mustangs have outscored 36 of 43 opponents in the paint.
SENIORS AND SOPHOMORES: SMU has six seniors and five sophomores playing this season. The seniors are Cannen Cunningham, Ryan Manuel, Justin Martin, Yanick Moreira, Jean-Micheal Mudiay and Kevin Dunleavy, Jr. Jordan Tolbert is sitting out this season after transferring from Texas Tech and will be a senior in 2015-16. SIGNEES FOR 2015-16: Sedrick Barefield, Jarrey Foster and Malik "Shake" Milton have signed National Letters of Intent to play at SMU beginning with the 2015-16 season. Milton (G, 6-5, 190) is a four-star guard from Owasso High School in Oklahoma. He was Oklahoma's Gatorade Player of the Year in 2013-14 after averaging 28.0 points, 5.9 rebounds and 3.9 assists. Barefield (G, 6-2, 185) is a three-star guard from Centennial High School in Corona, California. He averaged 17.4 points, 4.4 assists and 2.2 rebounds as a junior. Foster (G, 6-5, 190) is a three-star guard for North Shore High School in Houston. As a junior, he averaged 12.7 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.5 blocks and 1.2 steals in leading North Shore to its first Class 5A state championship. Foster was named championship game MVP after posting 16 points and 10 rebounds.
WOODEN AWARD PRESEASON TOP 50 - Nic Moore: Nic Moore was named to the John R. Wooden Award Preseason Top 50, the Los Angeles Athletic Club announced on Nov. 17. The accolade is college basketball's most prestigious honor for the top player in the country. Moore, a preseason All-American Athletic Conference selection, averaged team bests in scoring (13.4) and assists (4.9) while shooting 43.6 percent from behind the arc a year ago. The Winona Lake, Indiana, native was tabbed All-AAC first team last season along with NABC All-District first team, USBWA All-District and earned All-NIT honors. The Wooden Award National Advisory Board will select 25 players for the midseason list in early January.
SMU VS. DEFENDING NCAA CHAMPIONS: The Mustangs will face defending NCAA champion Connecticut at least twice this season. The Mustangs have faced the defending champ in eight other seasons.
