Klein And Burnett Advance To USA Diving Nationals

DALLAS (SMU) - Sophomore Bryce Klein and senior Devin Burnett finished second and third, respectively, in the one-meter dive at the USA Diving Zone C Championships on Friday to advance to the National Championship to be held in Knoxville, Tennessee, in August.
Klein posted a 349.75 at the event, while Burnett a 339.65. Mustang junior Parker Meinecke also competed at the event.
Burnett has swept the diving events at the conference meet in each of his three seasons with the Mustangs, including winning the inaugural titles at the American Athletic Conference meet in 2014. Klein was the runner-up in the one- and three-meter in 2014, while Meinecke finished fourth in the platform dive.
Klein, Burnett and Meinecke will all participate in the three-meter dive on Saturday, while Burnett and Meinecke take on platform diving Sunday.
"These summer Zone Championships are the best way to prep for the collegiate season," Stillson added. "They translate very well with the identical format and it's a great practice environment with the same pressure and intensity. It provides student-athletes with great competition and sets them up for success."
Four Zone Championships are held around the country, and at the Zone C Championship the top five divers who have not previously qualified in the one- and three-meter and the platform dive will advance to Knoxville.
