DALLAS (SMU) - Monika Babok, who recently completed her eligibility as a member of the SMU women's swimming team, completed a successful few days at the Croatian National Championships.
This Sisak, Croatia, native posted a pair of fourth-place finishes at the event including registering a 28.32 in the 50-meter butterfly and a 30.40 in the 50-meter backstroke. In the 50-meter freestyle, Babok clocked in at 27.18, which was good for sixth place.
Babok is just one of numerous current and former SMU swimmers competing around the globe this summer. Nina Rangelova went a perfect 10 for 10 in gold medals at the Bulgarian Nationals, Isabella Arcila broke the 50-meter freestyle record and won gold at Colombian Nationals and Rachel Nicol was champion in the 50-meter breaststroke at Canadian Nationals.
Tara-Lynn Nicholas and Marne Erasmus wrapped up compeition at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow as part of a fifth-place 4x100-meter medley relay team. The relay clocked in at 4:09.31 during finals after posting a qualifying time of 4:11.34.
