Erasmus And Nicholas Advance To Day Four Finals

PIETERMARITZBURG, South Africa (SMU) - After a successful third day at the Sa Short Course Championships, both Marne Erasmus and Tara-Lynn Nicholas will swim in finals on the last night of the event.
Erasmus, whose day included five races, was highlighted by a third-place finish in the 50-meter butterfly finals where she clocked in at 27.38. She also competed in morning prelims for the 50-meter freestlye and 100-meter butterfly, successfully qualifying for the night's semifinals in both. In the 50-free she posted a 26.41 to qualify for Sunday's final, and swam a 1:00.55 in the 100-fly semis to also advance.
Nicholas competed in the 100-breastsroke on day three and found herself in a battle through prelims and semis. Her 1:07.83 was good for first in prelims, but she was narrowly bested in the semis and qualified for finals with a 1:07.89 performance.
Sunday marks the final day of the event, which serves as a qualifier for the World Short Course Championships that are held December 3-7 in Doha, Qatar.
