Hoch Repeats As Conference Swimmer Of The Week

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (American/SMU) - Following a standout performance at the SMU Classic, junior Maddie Hoch was awarded American Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Week honors for the second time in as many weeks, league officials announced on Tuesday.
Hoch, who has now swam in two meets as a Mustang, continues to be one of SMU's top point scorers, contributing 39 points to the team total at the 22nd annual SMU Classic held this past weekend in Lewisville, Texas.
The junior earned runner-up finishes in the 200- and 500-yard freestyle Championship Finals, posting an NCAA `B' standard in the 200 distance. The 200 finish came only behind Louisville's Mallory Comerford, who swam the top time in the country. Hoch's stands sixth in the nation. In the 500, she currently ranks fourth behind the event winner Comerford who is 2nd. She also swam in the Championship Final of the 200-yard butterfly, placing fourth. In relay action, Hoch helped the 800-yard freestyle team to a fourth-place finish with a 1:49.55 lead-off split.
Hoch is the first Mustang to earn back-to-back honors since SMU joined The American during the 2013-14 season, and the honor is the sixth overall for the team.
