Krzyzaniak And Klein Sweep American Weekly Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (American/SMU) - For the fourth time this season, the SMU men's swimming and diving team swept the American Athletic Conference weekly awards, with Bryce Klein earning his third diving accolade and Bartosz Krzyzaniak picking up his first in the swimming category. In all, the Mustangs have claimed eight of the 10 honors this season.
Klein posted a career-best and first-place finish in the 1-meter dive on night one of the Art Adamson Invitational. It was the third-straight meet that Klein has won the event. Klein posted a 392.30, outscoring the next closest opponent by 26 points, averaging a single round score of 65.38. In the 3-meter, he totaled 424.60 points, improving on his preliminary-topping performance by 50.15 points. Klein posted an average round score of 70.77, outdoing his closest competitor by over 18 total points for the win.
The sophomore is a two-time AAC All-Conference selection, as well as a 2014 NCAA Zone qualifier.
Krzyzaniak had a successful weekend at the event posting a pair of NCAA B standards in the 100-and 200-yard backstroke events, as well as a pair of first place finishes in Bonus Finals. He also helped lead four of the five Mustang relays to top-10 finishes, including a fourth-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay. His times in the 500 free and 100 back were also career bests.
Krzyzaniak currently holds The American's top times in the 100 and 200 back, and is in the top three in the 100- and 200-yard freestyles.
SMU wrapped up the team portion of its 2015 schedule in College Station, Texas, last weekend. The team returns to action on Jan. 12 with a trip to Incarnate Word, while Mustang divers are back in action Jan. 3-5 for the Georgia Diving Invite.
