WACO, Texas (NCEA/SMU) -- Keagan Snively was named November's United Equestrian Conference Reining Rider of the Month, announced the National Collegiate Equestrian Association on Thursday. Snively is the first reiner in SMU history to earn a monthly honor.
Snively, who is 2-2-1 in the discipline, went 2-for-3 in November with victories against then-No. 6 South Carolina and then-No. 2 Auburn. During the month, the sophomore averaged a score of 68.5 and defeated opponents by an average of 0.3 points.
The first win, a 68-67.5 decision over Madison Thiel, clinched SMU its second victory all-time against the Gamecocks and earned Snively the reining MOP honor. The second victory came the following day against then-No. 2 Auburn, as Snively outdueled Hailey Munger, 69.5-67.
The SMU equestrian team (2-5) will return to action in 2016, hosting the Fresno State Bulldogs, Sat., Feb. 6. It will be the final home meet of the season. It is slated for 10 a.m. with senior day ceremonies scheduled before the meet.
