Round One Results Round Two Pairings Live Scoring KAPALUA, Hawaii - The SMU women's golf team sits in a tie for fifth place after Monday's opening round of the Anuenue Spring Break Classic held at the Bay Course. SMU shot 299 to be even with No. 42 San Jose State.
"We played well," head coach Jeanne Sutherland said. "Our score crept up because we counted some big numbers but we are looking forward to tomorrow's round."
Jenny Haglund shot even-par 72 in her round to be tied for seventh amongst individuals. She was under-par on five holes, including an eagle on the par-5 15th hole. There was just one other eagle recorded on the day, from Xavier's Nina Kulkami.
Alexandra Rossi was three-over in her round, good for a tie of 16th place. She had three birdies on the back nine but six bogeys troubled her day.
One stroke off Rossi was Jennifer Park and Lindsey McCurdy at four-over. Park was par or better on eight holes in the back nine. McCurdy was even on the back nine but was four-over on the front. They are both tied for 27th.
Evelyn Dole shot a 77. Five bogeys on the back nine plagued her round but she finished strong by going even-par on the front nine.
Alex Celli, playing as an individual, shot 79.
No. 50 Texas is atop the leaderboard after carding a team score of 288. Ahead of the Mustangs is No. 39 Louisville (290), No. 32 UC Davis (290) and No. 47 Gonzaga (295). UC Davis' Paige Lee paces the field at four-under.
The second round of the Spring Break Classic tees off Tuesday at 12:45 p.m. CT/7:45 a.m. HST.
