AUSTIN, Texas -- The SMU men's swimming team wrapped up the American Short Course Championship on Saturday night at the University of Texas' Lee & Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center.

The three-day event, which included both club and collegiate teams, was SMU's last meet before the NCAA Championship March 26-28.

A day after setting the school record in the 500-yard freestyle, freshman Christian Scherubl finished third in the 100-yard free with a time of 43.83. Sam Straughan and Tucker Wells also competed in the 100-yard freestyle. Straughan placed seventh and recorded a new season-best time (44.88), while Wells finished 19th (45.78).

Tyler Rauth set a new personal record in the 200-yard butterfly, finishing third with a time of 1:44.59. Rauth's time is .01 seconds faster than his gold medal time at the American Athletic Conference Championship (1:45.00).

In the 200-yard breaststroke, Stefan Popov touched the wall 10th (2:02.77).

Next week, the NCAA will announce the swimmers who are invited to the NCAA Championship. For future updates on SMU and the national championship, follow @SMUSwimmingM on Twitter or like /SMUSwimmingM on Facebook.
